I was really shocked to know that UK doesn't celebrates a day like Teacher's Day...
Being the roll model for many countries across the world in many aspects it was a shameful activity for UK,
Hope UK declares one of the day in calender month as Teacher's day for their worthy contribution to the country...
who actually mold the children at their young age.. :)

Your all talking utter rubbish. At a time when students are getting better grades than ever, you're complaining about kids not talking English properly, but in all honesty they are probably doing it better than how most kids were speaking in your generation. Just look back to when you was a kid, take off those rose tinted glasses and remember all those idiots that would've been in your school. It's the same with my school there will always be the thick students. And remember, kids will grow up, sometimes they put on an act in front of there friends saying that they don't know something when they actually do. One last thing, stop being derogatory towards my generation, we've all been there. Yours sincerely a 16 year old

i've just been told by one of my chinese colleagues that September 10th is teacher's day in China. Although it falls on a weekend this year (2011), students may bring a gift for their teacher the day before. I was asked if we have something like this in the UK and when i searched, i came across your article which confirmed my thought that we dont have such a day - shame because teachers deserve to be thanked for their contribution to society.

It's an interesting point, as well, that Dagger John, the first Archbishop of New York and an impressively influential Irish-American, was blamed for getting Biblical lessons and religious teaching banned from New York public schools. The reason was that the good cleric didn't like that Catholic school children were being taught from the King James Bible and taught Protestant theology. As a Roman Catholic who has rather conservative values, I am more than thankful that religion cannot be taught in schools and it is the one realm that is mostly left to the parents.
