    This celebration is a lie made by the Catholic Church. This is all about commerce and deceit.

    May I enjoin you to visit esoriano.wordpress.com for insights.

    Thanks for the space!

    Merry Christmas to you, Solomon! We celebrated Christmas Day at Midnight Mass in an ancient English chapel. (You are welcome to read about it on my blog.)

    A joyous Feast to you and your family 🙂

    Glorify Him indeed!

    Elman,

    I’m sorry that Eliseo Soriano has misled you so terribly. He is sadly misinformed about many things, and the origins of the Feast of the Nativity is just one of them.

    I’ve left your comment, because there may be visitors to this blog who would be entertained by looking at his blog. Of particular interest are the long list of “achievements” that fill his bio page.

    Blessings of the Feast to you and yours!

    You shoudn’t be sorry about the information we got from Bro Eliseo Soriano, because all of those are supported by Bible verses and no one can disprove it.

    Why not prove your claim with bible verses too? Thus, prove also that Catholicism follows what St Peter learned from Jesus Christ that he should not be called a Pope.

    Matthew 23:9
    And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

    Because we only have one Pope/Father, the God of Israel.

    2 Timothy 4:3
    For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

    Ask yourselves if you have seen what the apostles seen and things that more than what they saw.

    Matthew 11:25
    At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children

    Brother Eli can fight for us and the doctrine that he preached found in the scriptures with the help of the Spirit of God and the spirit of the holy men of God! Those who wants to oppose, you can ask Bro Eliseo Soriano himself.

    Titus 1:9
    He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

    But then again, look who’s talking, Sol about your custom, tradition and idol worship:

    Jeremiah 10

    1 Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel. 2 This is what the LORD says:
    “Do not learn the ways of the nations
    or be terrified by signs in the sky,
    though the nations are terrified by them.
    3 For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
    they cut a tree out of the forest,
    and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.
    4 They adorn it with silver and gold;
    they fasten it with hammer and nails
    so it will not totter.

    5 Like a scarecrow in a melon patch,
    their idols cannot speak;
    they must be carried
    because they cannot walk.
    Do not fear them;
    they can do no harm
    nor can they do any good.”

    Elman,

    First I would say that if you believe that the teachings of Eliseo Soriano cannot be disproven, then you strengthen my suspicion that he is the leader of some sort of cult.

    Second, whilst I am not an apologist for Roman Catholicism, as an Orthodox Christian I do not use proof-texting to make any doctrinal point. The doctrine of the Church is the responsibility of the Church and her bishops as the chief undershepherd of Christ. After all, the Church existed long before the canon of Scripture and the Church determined which writings were God-breathed and how they should be understood.

    Thus, I’m not even going to reach to your various arguments because they are simply non sequiturs.

    Christ is born!

  9. elmantheman Says:

    Sol, are you really an Orthodox Christian?

    Author, can you correct Sol when she said this:

    “…as an Orthodox Christian I do not use proof-texting to make any doctrinal point. The doctrine of the Church is the responsibility of the Church and her bishops as the chief undershepherd of Christ. After all, the Church existed long before the canon of Scripture and the Church determined which writings were God-breathed and how they should be understood.”

    Hahaha! What an ironic critique this Sol is! She doesn’t even know her faith.

  10. sol Says:

    Who is “she”? And who is “Author”? You’re not making a lot of sense Elman – and that’s just your grammar.

    Here’s a little poem to clarify:

    I am Sol,
    I am he,
    and in that name
    is written by me.

    And just to clarify a bit more:

    I know my faith. You haven’t even attempted to explain how you imagine that what I said is not in accordance with the teaching of the Orthodox Church. “Hahaha!” is hardly a defense of doctrine.

  11. elmantheman Says:

    Sol, the author is a he.

    You know your faith, but the orthodox christian does only base the authority in the holy scriptures.

She doesn’t even know her faith and what truly an orthodox christian believes in.

    But then again, the church you are referring to? Was anything said in the Holy Scriptures and even the term orthodox christian?

  12. sol Says:

    Elman

    We’ll leave aside that you keep referring to me in the third person and as a female.

    We are clearly talking at cross purposes here. I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian. This is an Eastern Orthodox blog. It is not a debating society dedicated to defending Eastern Orthodoxy Christianity, and even less a place where off-handed remarks assuming the validity of, or superiority of, a particular sect of what resembles evangelical Protestantism are profitable. I say this despite Rev. Soriano’s long list of certificates of appreciation from various civic organisations in the Philippines.

  13. elmantheman Says:

    oh I am sorry I copy pasted my expression and left your gender as female. I know now that we are both male.

    We do not call Brother Eli Soriano reverend. Only God the Father was called reverend in the scriptures. Even that you have no idea of. There are a lot of things to learn from the bible. I am just giving you hints. But in a way, atleast you know we are existing with those awards that cannot be denied, right? But don’t you believe that some awards gives glory to God, not just the man recepient?

    Why do we need to argue? It is the doctrine that was given to the apostles to teach that is important. Let us talk about the doctrine shall we? And if you do not want to talk about it, well, who will, a Christian like you? HOw hypocrite can they be.

    But I am not hear to fight, I am here to tell you that there is an imitator of the Church of God as preached by St Paul. And this imitator is inviting you to be a member too and learn the doctrines in the holy scriptures, not just formulated opinion.

    Ask Bro Eli Soriano, the bible shall answer.
